What are your thoughts about decorating classrooms?  We now have the resources and ability to make beautiful classrooms.  Do any of you still put up posters?

I have a variety of Anchor Charts and Posters along with Words Walls and Student Data. I feel these encourage students and motive them.

Yes, by all means continue to decorate! I have been a high school administrator for the past 10 years and now I am at the central office. I now have the ability to go into PreK-12 classrooms. The decor of the room sets the tone for the learning environment. Decorations to reinforce expectations, self-worth, kindness, content, etc...are all important to have on display!

Parents also appreciate the time and effort given to the environment as well!

Thanks for your input!  I think your room should be inviting.  It says a lot about the teacher as a person too.  You can see a teacher's personality when you enter their room.

Absolutely decorate! I have a garden-themed classroom library complete with a trellis and hanging lights. A high-backed white wicker teacher's chair. I re-purposed an old wooden shutter, hung it up sideways on my wall, and use it to display books. I have plants, flower wall stickers, window boxes to display books, two child-sized sofas, a child-sized chair, and a green carpet. My students love spending time in the library AND READING!

I say decorate with educational posters but don't over do it with just cute décor. It can be over stimulating for some students.
